The Spartan Advocate, an initiative of MSU’s Office of Government Relations, has the facts, resources, and opportunities to help people communicate the importance of supporting Michigan State University and higher education to state of Michigan elected officials, the media, and more.

MSU Extension
Michigan State University Extension helps people improve their lives by bringing the vast knowledge resources of MSU directly to individuals, communities and businesses. Learn about Extension's leadership and the district coordinators who work across the state organizing and reporting on Extension's relationships with community-based partners. 

Michigan Association of State Universities
The Michigan Association of State Universities serves as a forum for the presidents and chancellors of Michigan’s 15 public universities to discuss and frame positions on key higher education finance and policy issues.

University Research Corridor
The University Research Corridor is an alliance between Michigan State University, the University of Michigan and Wayne State University to transform, strengthen and diversify the state’s economy.

Business Leaders for Michigan
Business Leaders for Michigan (BLM) is the state’s business roundtable, composed of the chairpersons, CEOs or most senior executives of the state’s largest job providers and universities. BLM’s work is concentrated on developing strategy, raising awareness, advocating policy and championing initiatives that grow the state’s economy.

MSU Government Relations
MSU Government and External Relations works with state, federal, and local policymakers and stakeholders to ensure funding and policy initiatives reflect the needs of the university.

URC Economic Impact Report
The University Research Corridor contracts with Anderson Economic Group to produce a report measuring its economic impact on the state of Michigan and benchmarking itself against eight major university research clusters across the nation. The total economic impact data used across MI Spartan Impact comes from this report.
