Governor Gretchen Whitmer

As Michigan’s Governor, Gretchen Whitmer is committed to solving problems for Michiganders across the state. Under her leadership, that means expanding access to affordable healthcare, improving education and skills training, respecting working families, cleaning up Michigan’s drinking water, and of course, fixing the roads. More

 

Michigan State Senate

Senator Jeremy Moss, Senate District 11 

Sen. Jeremy Moss is serving his first term representing the 11th State Senate District in southern Oakland County.

Jeremy grew up in Southfield and attended Michigan State University. He participated in several student-led humanitarian aid missions in the US and around the globe, twice traveling to New Orleans in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina to assist with cleanup efforts and spending time abroad in Uruguay to build housing in among the most impoverished areas of South America. More

Senator John Bizon, Senate District 19 

In November 2018, residents of Michigan’s 19th Senate District elected Sen. Dr. John Bizon, R-Battle Creek, to the state Senate, representing Barry, Calhoun and Ionia counties. John chairs the Families, Seniors, and Veterans Committee. Dr. Bizon is an otolaryngologist (ear, nose and throat doctor) in Battle Creek who’s been in medical practice for more than 40 years. He is a military veteran who served in the U.S. Air Force, eventually obtaining the rank of lieutenant colonel. More

Senator Curtis Hertel, Senate District 23 

Sen. Curtis Hertel Jr. has a long history of fighting for issues that matter most to Michigan’s families. He was elected to the Ingham County Commission at the age of 22, where he championed the county’s living wage ordinance and led the charge for the Ingham County Health Plan, which became a model around the country. As the county’s Register of Deeds, he fought for people who had fallen victim to predatory lending and foreclosure scams, and helped shield residents from foreclosure fraud. The senator is a graduate of Michigan State University’s James Madison College. More

Senator Dan Lauwers, Senate District 25 

Lauwers serves as chairman of the Energy and Technology Committee and vice chairman of the Insurance and Banking Committee. Lauwers is also a member of the committees on Agriculture; Economic and Small Business Development; Government Operations; Regulatory Reform; and Transportation and Infrastructure. Lauwers earned a bachelor’s degree in agricultural economics with an emphasis on marketing from Michigan State University. More

Senator Jim Ananich, Senate District 27 

Senate Minority Leader Jim Ananich has served in the Michigan Senate since 2013, when he won a special election to fill the 27th Senate District seat. He is now in his third term (second full term) in the Senate. Ananich graduated from Flint Central High School and earned a bachelor’s degree in political economics from Michigan State University, as well as a secondary education certificate in social studies. He also holds a master’s degree in public administration from the University of Michigan-Flint. More

Senator Peter MacGregor, Senate District 28 

Senate Majority Floor Leader Peter MacGregor is in his second term representing the 28th Senate District, in Kent County.  MacGregor is chairman of the Appropriations Subcommittee on Health and Human Services. MacGregor is a lifelong Michigan resident. He is a graduate of Michigan State University’s Eli Broad College of Business.  More

Representative Joe Tate, 2nd House District 

 

State Rep. Joe Tate is serving his first term representing Michigan’s 2nd House District, a diverse community that covers part of Detroit’s Lower East Side, Grosse Pointe Park, Grosse Pointe City, and Grosse Pointe Farms. Tate decided to run for this office as a part of his deep and lifelong commitment to public service. More

Representative Frank Liberati, 13th House District 

State Representative Frank Liberati is serving his second term representing the 13th House District, which comprises the cities of Allen Park and Southgate, and part of Dearborn Heights. In his first term, he served on three House committees: Families, Children and Seniors; Health Policy; and Workforce and Talent Development. More

Representative Kevin Hertel, 18th House District 

State Rep. Kevin Hertel is serving his second term representing the 18th House District, which is comprised of the communities of Eastpointe, St. Clair Shores and part of the village of Grosse Pointe Shores. Hertel grew up in a family dedicated to public service and learned from a young age the importance of being involved in his community. More

Representative Laurie Pohutsky, 19th House District 

State Rep. Laurie Pohutsky is serving her first term representing 19th House District, which encompasses the majority of the city of Livonia. She is a long-time activist and volunteer, and spent time as a crisis hotline volunteer and a caregiver at Angela Hospice. More

Representative Steve Marino, 24th House District 

Steve Marino was first elected to the Michigan House of Representatives in November 2016 and represents residents in Harrison Township and portions of Clinton and Macomb townships. Rep. Marino serves as chairman of the House Commerce and Tourism Committee, vice chair of the Local Government and Municipal Finance Committee, and as a member of the Elections and Ethics and Military, Veterans and Homeland Security committees. More

Representative Lori Stone, 28th House District 

Stone is a lifelong resident of Warren. She graduated from Fitzgerald Public Schools as well as the Macomb Mathematics Science Technology Center. Stone went on to earn her bachelor’s degrees in Political Theory & Constitutional Democracy and Elementary Education as well as her master’s degree in Science Education from Michigan State University.  Stone was a 2017 fellow with the Michigan Political Leadership Program. Representative Pamela Hornberger, 32nd House District 

Rep. Hornberger is the chairwoman of the House Education Committee, and is a member of the Elections and Ethics, and Health Policy committees. She also serves as vice chair of the Appropriations subcommittee on School Aid and Department of Education. More

Representative Douglas Wozniak, 36th House District 

Rep. Wozniak serves as vice chair of the Joint Committee on Administrative Rules, and as a member of the Communications & Technology, Families, Children, and Seniors, Health Policy and Judiciary committees. More

Representative Ryan Berman, 39th House District 

Rep. Berman serves as vice chair on the House Regulatory Reform Committee, and is a member of the Financial Services, Insurance, and Judiciary committees. More

Representative Michael Webber, 45th House District 

Webber serves as chair of the House Regulatory Reform Committee, and as a member of the Insurance, Oversight and Tax Policy committees. More

Representative Hank Vaupel, 47th House District 

Rep. Vaupel serves as chair of the committee on Health Policy. He is also a member of the committees on Education, Insurance, and Tax Policy. Hank earned bachelor and doctorate degrees in veterinary medicine from Michigan State University.  After college, Hank proudly served as a Captain in the United States Army from 1968-1971. More

Representative Jon Hoadley, 60th House District 

State Rep. Jon Hoadley is in his third term as the representative for the 60th House District, which includes Kalamazoo and portions of the city of Portage and Kalamazoo Township. He currently serves as the Democratic vice chair of the House Appropriations Committee, as well as the Democratic vice chair of the House Fiscal Agency Governing Committee. Rep. Hoadley also serves on the General Government, Health and Human Services, and Higher Education and Community Colleges Appropriations subcommittees. More

Representative Jim Haadsma, 62nd House District 

State Rep. Jim Haadsma is serving his first term representing Michigan’s 62nd House District, which is located in Calhoun County and comprises the cities of Battle Creek, Springfield and Albion; and the townships of Albion, Bedford, Clarence, Convis, Lee, Pennfield and Sheridan. 

He received his BA in English from Michigan State University before earning his Juris Doctorate from the Wayne State University Law School. Haadsma was admitted to the State Bar of Michigan in 1984, and has worked at McCroskey Law, P.L.C. since 1987. More

Representative Kara Hope, 67th House District 

State Rep. Kara Hope is serving her first term representing Michigan’s 67th House District, which includes Mason, Stockbridge, Leslie, Webberville, Williamston, Dansville, Holt, Onondaga and South Lansing. The daughter of two corrections officers, Hope learned early on about the value of public service. After receiving a bachelor’s degree from Michigan State University, Hope returned to her hometown of Ionia where she found work as a writer for Ionia’s daily newspaper. More

Representative Julie Brixie, 69th House District 

After earning my Master’s degree in crop and soil sciences with a specialization in environmental toxicology, I ran a mobile laboratory, conducting investigations and cleanups of contaminated sites all over Michigan. More

Representative James Lower, 70th House District 

Jim serves as chair of the House Local Government and Municipal Finance Committee and vice chair of the Tax Policy Committee, as well as a member of the Energy and Health Policy committees. Jim earned a bachelor’s degree in Economics from Michigan State University and a master’s degree in Business Administration from Grand Valley State University. More

Representative Lynn Afendoulis, 73rd House District 

Rep. Afendoulis serves as chair for the committee on Tax Policy. She also serves on the committees for Health Policy, Military, Veterans, & Homeland Security, and Transportation & Infrastructure. Afendoulis graduated from Forest Hills High School and attended Miami University (Ohio); she graduated from Michigan State University with a degree in journalism. Representative Rachel Hood, 76th House District 

State Representative Rachel Hood is serving her first term representing the 76th House District, which covers a large section of the city of Grand Rapids. Hood has spent her career developing, financing and implementing innovative urban investment, water protection and energy conservation solutions. She is a graduate of Michigan State University’s James Madison College, where she earned a degree in Public Policy. More

Representative Pauline Wendzel, 79th House District 

State Rep. Pauline Wendzel was first elected to the Michigan House of Representatives in November 2018. She represents the 79th District. Rep. Wendzel will serve as vice chair of the Commerce and Tourism Committee and the Energy Committee for the 2019-20 legislative session. She also serves as a member of the Agriculture Committee and the Regulatory Reform Committee. More

Representative Gary Howell, 82nd House District 

State Rep. Gary Howell was elected to serve the 82nd House District in March, 2016. The 82nd House District includes all of Lapeer County. Representative Howell serves as chairman of the House Natural Resources and Outdoor Recreation Committee and is a member on the Judiciary, Local Government and Municipal Finance, and Transportation and Infrastructure committees. Representative Thomas Albert, 86th House District 

State Representative Thomas Albert was first elected to the Michigan House of Representatives in November 2016 representing the 86th District. Rep. Albert is on the House Appropriations committee, where he is chair of the Corrections subcommittee. He also serves on the Agriculture & Rural Development, Military & Veterans Affairs & State Police, and School Aid & Department of Education subcommittees. More

Representative Beau LaFave, 108th House District 

State Representative Beau LaFave was first elected in November 2016 to the Michigan House to represent the people of Delta, Dickinson and Menominee counties. LaFave serves as the chairman of the Military, Veterans & Homeland Security committee and vice chairman of the Judiciary committee. He also serves on the Insurance, Oversight, Agriculture, and Reducing Car Insurance Rates committees. More
